Rose Garden Club of Liberty Projects
The Rose Garden Club of Liberty is dedicated to making a positive impact in our beautiful community. The following are the various projects we’ve undertaken to support local initiatives, including the Monarch Butterfly Waystation that provides resources necessary for monarchs to produce successive generations that culminate in their migration each fall.

Monarch Butterfly Waystation #24541
In the fall, millions of monarch butterflies migrate from the US and Canada to overwinter in areas of Mexico and California. Monarch Waystations are places that provided resources necessary for monarchs to produce successive generations that culminate in their migration each fall. Our Waystation was certified in June of 2019 and its protected by an 8' tall deer fence. Around the fence perimeter we planted deer resistant plants that provide food for butterflies and other pollinators. A grant from Heart of NC Visitors Bureau and contributions from local organizations and individuals helped build our Waystation along with the sweat equity of our members. We have been recognized with Courier-Tribune article, coverage on Roy's Folks (Fox 8, WGHP), a visit from Randolph County Master Gardners, and from the Randolph County Extension Assocation.

Patterson Cottage
Every year, Rose Garden Club Members enjoy decorating downtown Liberty's Historic Patterson Cottage for Christmas with window candles, wreaths of fresh local greenery made by club members; also, place baskets of fresh greenery and swags at the Cottage.
Club members maintain the crepe myrtles, apricot trees and plantings adjacent to the Patterson Cottage. Annuals and perennial are also planted each season.

American Legion Post #81
This is our newest beautification project completed in the Fall, 2022. Beautiful plants surround the front and side of the American Legion Post #81 building greatly improving the beauty of the property. Club members will continue to maintain the planting beds throughout the year.

Welcome to Liberty Signage
Gardens
Garden Club Members maintain a total of five planters around the bases of the "Welcome to Liberty" signs.
This is an o n-going project as we continue adding more color and selections to our planters. The Liberty Antiques Festival held twice a year draws around 10,000 visitors to our area. Thes attractive "Welcome" signs on the five highways coming into town convey our sense of pride in our town and help to make newcomers more aware of civic opportunities for their involvement.

Annual Plant & Bake Sale
Fundraiser
Once a year, in April, the Club holds a plant sale using the plants members have transplanted from their own gardens and plants donated to the Club. A bake sale is included to bring in additional funds. All proceeds from our sale go to maintain and create new projects that help to beautiful the Town of Liberty. Our sale, held at the American Legion Post #81, is open to the public and is widely advertised through signage and various media sources.

Farmer's Market Project
Club member routinely beautify and maintain the seven planted urn throughout the Farmer's Market property.
The urns offer a pleasant backdrop to the area and are seasonally maintained with annual and perennial plantings. Around the Christmas season, they are decorated with festive bows.
